Kevin Dorsey, who made a particularly interesting mark on the Gopher basketball program, has decided to transfer.
The official statement from the University includes this quote from Richard Pitino.
"After discussion with Kevin and his family, we all feel that it is best for him to transfer and get closer to home," said Pitino. "We wish Kevin nothing but the best moving forward, and will assist him in the process in any way that we can."
This is an unfortunate turn of events for the Gopher program. Dorsey was the highlight recruit in the 2015 class and while he struggled for much of his freshman season he really seemed to figure things out in late January. He averaged 10 points per game in his final 6 games as a Gopher before having to sit out the final 5 games of the regular season due to his unusual suspension.
Clearly he would have been a significant part of the backcourt rotation next season and this will hinder production and depth.
