Minnesota Softball is rolling into the NCAA Tournament on a fantastic hot streak. They've won their last 14 games, including their thrilling extra innings win against #2 ranked Michigan in the Big Ten Tournament final. Their first NCAA opponent in the Seattle Regional will be North Dakota State. The Bison are also on a 14 game win streak and are 38-13 on the season (including going 17-0 in the Summit League).
Minnesota will be relying heavily upon junior pitcher Sara Groenewegen, who has been both a dominant force and resilient rock for the Gophers as their reliable #1 starter. Unsure what I mean? In the Big Ten Tournament, Sara pitched 24 innings over 3 games in only 2 days.
Yea. That's insane. She is 30-5 with a 1.87 ERA. She has pitched 217 2/3 innings this season, which is only 5th most among any pitcher in the NCAA tournament (no big deal).
