The Golden Gophers have released their depth chart for Saturday’s matchup with Indiana State, and there are a few notable differences from the two-deep that was released prior to the season opener against Oregon State.
Wide receiver Rashad Still (shoulder) and linebacker Nick Rallis (elbow) both left the game against Oregon State with injuries and will not play against Indiana State. There is no timetable on when either of them will return. Safety Ace Rogers (knee) and offensive lineman Chad Fahning (unknown) did not dress for the season opener and will also be out for Saturday’s matchup with the Sycamores.
But there is also good news! Wide receiver Eric Carter (ankle) is back and starting in place of Still after being held out of last Thursday’s game. Redshirt sophomores Isaiah Gentry and Melvin Holland, Jr. are also back in the mix at wide receiver. Tight end Brandon Lingen dressed for the opener but did not play, and is not listed on the depth chart or in the injury report. So expect his status to be another game time decision. Same for Shannon Brooks.
Linebacker Julian Huff will start in place of Jonathan Celestin, who will sit out the first half after being ejected for targeting in the second half of the opener. With Celestin on the bench and Rallis out, the linebacker two-deep has been shaken up a bit, with freshman Carter Coughlin now backing up Jack Lynn at outside linebacker and Jaylen Waters sitting second string behind Cody Poock at middle linebacker.
Freshman defensive end Tai’yon Devers will also sit out the first half due to targeting, but wasn’t listed on the previous depth chart, so no change there. Freshmen Kiondre Thomas and Coney Durr are no longer listed now that KiAnte Hardin is back starting at cornerback with redshirt freshman Ray Buford backing him up.
