UPDATE 1/19 3 PM CT: Daniel Oturu has committed to Minnesota!

Minnesota fans have put their recruiting attention almost entirely on the football team in recent weeks, for understandable reasons. However, there is a chance that Richard Pitino’s program might also end up with a big time commit by the end of the day.
Local 4 star standout Daniel Oturu has announced that he is moving up his commitment announcement to 3pm today.

This has led to strong speculation that Oturu will select Minnesota, as he has yet to visit Kansas. In fact, the 247 Crystal Ball has now flipped from 100% Kansas to 100% Minnesota as the expected destination.
Landing Oturu would be HUGE for Minnesota. First off, anytime you beat out Kansas or another blue blood for a local recruit it’s a huge deal. Secondly, Oturu is tall, talented, and has a high motor. He has all the physical traits to grow into the big man for the future for the Gophers. Here’s hoping he stays home!
