Atlanta Falcons headed to Super Bowl 51 thanks to Ra’Shede Hageman and De’Vondre Campbell

That the duo played well against the Packers only makes it better.

It’s a pretty good Monday to be a Gopher fan, unless you are one of the confused souls who loves the Gophers and the Green Bay Packers. Why? Because last night two of the biggest performers on defense for the Atlanta Falcons were former Minnesota stars Ra’Shede Hageman and De’Vondre Campbell.

Both Shede and Campbell posted quietly impressive state lines:

  • Shede had 3 tackles. All 3 were tackles for loss, 1 was a sack, and all were solo. In other words, Shede at a guy (again).
  • De’Vondre had 3 tackles and 1 QB hit.

Watching former Gophers make big plays in big games as professionals is always enjoyable. Watching them make those plays against a team you dislike is even better. Watching Ra’Shede Hageman eat a center before sacking Aaron Rodgers with just a swat of his mighty hand is transcendent.

With any luck, we’ll get to watch Ra’Shede and De’Vondre continue to impress against the New England Patriots (who I’m sure you all love dearly, /sarcasm) in Super Bowl 51.
