The 3-Star DE from Hopkins picks the Gophers over Rutgers.

(*Editor's note...What the heck does "Commitment to Eight" mean? It is our new recurring title for recruit commitments referencing a commitment to work towards the Gopher's Eighth National Championship.)

P.J. Fleck has shown a theme of getting commitments from athletic defensive ends and that theme continues tonight as Boye Mafe of Hopkins has giving his verbal to the Gophers.

The state’s #3 player, a 3-star recruit and quite possibly the last commitment to the class of 2017 giving us a total of 28 commits.

Quotables

Long, lean defender. Good athlete with a lot of upside. Has to get stronger and improve technique but frame and ability to bend and run down ball carriers is not easy to find.

TDG Analysis

In Two Words - if you have to remember just two things about this player...

  • Slippery
  • Fast

Scheme Fit

Hard to say exactly but as I said in my opening paragraph, this staff has brought in quite a few defensive ends who are raw and athletic.

Absurd Comparison

Thieran Cockran comes to mind due to the athleticism and pursuit. Cockran was taller and thinner coming into the program, but that is my comparison.

Impact on Other Prospects?

I think we are done.
