(*Editor's note...What the heck does "Commitment to Eight" mean? It is our new recurring title for recruit commitments referencing a commitment to work towards the Gopher's Eighth National Championship. A little bit tongue in cheek, but why not right?)
For Gopher fans worried about landing a quality quarterback in this recruiting class, fear no more. The Gophers have landed Tanner Morgan a 3-star out of Union, Kentucky.
Quotables
ESPN Bottom Line evaluation of Morgan.
Morgan is a pocket passer with high end mobility allowing for flexibility within the scheme to take advantage of those skills. Playmaker who creates well and is consistent with his ball placement. A winner with Power 5 upside, added length and development will allow for a Power 5 projection to occur.

TDG Analysis
In Two Words - if you have to remember just two things about this player...
- Quick feet
- Quick release
Absurd Comparisons
An interesting analysis from Scout was stating how if Morgan were an inch or two taller he’d be a highly sought after QB due to his arm and intangibles. Forgive me if I see a little bit of Philip Nelson when I watch Morgan. Nelson always struck me a bit undersized with a nice quick release and a good passer. Morgan is faster, and a tad shorter, but I see some similarities.
Scheme Fit
Well, he was recruited by Fleck to WMU for a reason and he asked him to come to Minnesota for a reason. He’s a quick passer and accurate.
Impact on Other Prospects?
I will not at all be surprised if McLaurin is not actually a Gopher when Spring Practice gets going in a few months. The tricky part is that McLaurin already signed his NLI.
It is interesting that Fleck has also offered current Missouri commit, Reyondoux Estes.
