(*Editor's note...What the heck does "Commitment to Eight" mean? It is our new recurring title for recruit commitments referencing a commitment to work towards the Gopher's Eighth National Championship.)
A raw but athletic end from Indianapolis, Ben Davis High School. Esezi Otomewo was quick to join Coach Fleck and take the Big Ten offer at Minnesota.
Quotables
ESPN Scouts evaluation.
Otomweo is a prospect who will project on the weakside as a DE. Has excellent length and a motor that can be built around. Raw in all aspects of his play including his body, bend, burst and overall positional awareness. Has some desired and unique traits that can allow for him to continue his development in the other areas.
Measurables
Height: 6' 6"
Weight: 215 lbs.

In Two Words - if you have to remember just two things about this player...
- Fast
- Hard hitter
Absurd Comparisons
Tai’yon Devers is the easiest comparison, raw and fast. Otomewo is not a complete player but his raw athleticism is hard to ignore and that is why this 2-star had offers from several P5 schools.
Scheme Fit
Getting pressure on the quarterback is going to be a key feature of a Fleck defense and that is what Otomewo brings to the table. Great length and burst, he’ll be a nice prospect on the weakside. I would assume a redshirt is in order.
Impact on Other Prospects?
Defensive line is a HUGE need for this particular class. With Otommewo, Hickcox, Chambers and Umlor all committing to Fleck; I think we are much better shape but wouldn’t at all be surprised to see another one added if the right kid wants to commit.
