Minnesota Basketball: Preseason All-Big Ten Includes Nate Mason and Amir Coffey

Big Ten Media Days are occurring in Chicago and this morning the Preseason All Big Ten team was announced. 10 players from the Big Ten’s 14 teams were announced on this list and 2 Gophers were named to it.

G - Nate Mason

Last year earned 1st Team All-Big Ten honors so this should really come as no surprise. Mason led the Gophers in scoring with 15.2 points per game and ranked 9th in the conference. He also led the Gophers in assists and steals ranking 4th and 5th in the Big Ten respectively.

Undoubtedly the leader on the floor for the Gopher offense and integral to their success this year.

G/F - Amir Coffey

As a freshman Coffey earned himself on to the Freshman All Big Ten team. He was the Gopher’s second leading scorer. It may be a little bit of a surprise to see Coffey’s name on this list ahead of Jordan Murphy and maybe even Reggie Lynch. But there seems to be some reason to believe he’ll make a leap in his sophomore year and be one of he league’s 10 best.
