Scouting Report

Bateman hauled in 74 receptions for 1,383 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns as a high school senior. He is an explosive receiver with great ball skills. The Georgia product explodes off the line of scrimmage, runs crisp routes, and has the speed to be a vertical threat down the field.

Potential Impact

Considering P.J. Fleck was so impressed that he offered him a scholarship on the spot at a Georgia satellite camp over the summer, I’d say the staff is excited about what Bateman can bring to their offense. Outside of sophomore wide receiver Tyler Johnson, the Gophers lacked explosiveness this season in the passing game. Bateman offers exactly that, and I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t see the field this fall.
