Scouting Report

Teague has the size and strength you want for a defensive tackle, but he also has surprising athleticism, which allows him to change direction and chase the ball carrier down the field. He is very strong at the point of attack, exploding off the line of scrimmage and bursting to the ball when a lane opens up. Teague is difficult to block when he gets low, but maintaining a consistent pad level is something he’ll need to improve on at the college level.

Potential Impact

It’s difficult to say when he’ll see the field. The Gophers used a four-man rotation at defensive tackle last season, and there will be at least three upperclassman tackles who figure into that rotation this fall. With the lack of depth at the position, I think the coaching staff would prefer to redshirt Teague, but they may not have that luxury if circumstances force their hand.
