Scouting Report

While Rashod Bateman and Jornell Manns will receive more attention, Gibson might be the hidden gem of this wide receiver group. First and foremost, he has excellent ball skills. He high points the ball, catches passes in traffic, and exhibits good body control and hand-eye coordination. He has been described frequently as “smooth.” Gibson does not have game-breaking speed, but he is a solid route runner and can create separation — which should be music to the ears of every Gopher fan after last season. While he isn’t a home run threat, he has shown the ability to break tackles after the catch.

Potential Impact

The Gophers are desperate for playmakers at wide receiver outside of Tyler Johnson, so Gibson will have every opportunity to contribute early in his career.
