Viramontes helped lead the Riverside City College Tigers to a 10-2 record, but came up short of the state championship game after falling to Fullerton College in the semifinals. He finished the season 126-of-212 (59.4%) for 1,868 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, and rushed for a team-leading 1,346 rushing yards on 183 attempts with 21 rushing touchdowns.
From 247 Sports:
Viramontes is dual threat quarterback who can beat a team with his arm or his legs. He might actually be more advanced as a runner than a pure thrower but in the right system, he can definitely play QB in college. He has the size, athleticism and toughness to move to defense as well and could end up at LB or safety. He's a very physical player, loves contact and is a highly competitive kid.
With the transfer of Demry Croft, the starting Gophers quarterback spot is up for grabs. Viramontes will have a chance this spring (and into fall camp, most likely) to take it for himself, but he’ll need to beat out redshirt sophomore Seth Green and redshirt freshman Tanner Morgan. Neither of the two quarterbacks currently on the roster have thrown a collegiate pass, so Viramontes seems to have somewhat of a leg up after a season of playing at the JUCO level.
