Minnesota Football Recruiting: Four-star offensive lineman Curtis Dunlap commits to the Gophers

The former Florida commit is the No. 6 offensive guard in the country for his recruiting class.

Four-star offensive lineman Curtis Dunlap has committed to play for head coach P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Previously a Florida commit, Dunlap decommitted from the Gators on Dec. 5 ahead of an official visit to Minneapolis.

Dunlap is teammates with quarterback Zack Annexstad and offensive line recruit Daniel Faalele at the IMG Academy in Florida. Annexstad will enroll at Minnesota as a preferred walk-on this fall and is said to have played a key role in flipping Dunlap to the Gophers. The three teammates are on campus this weekend for an official visit with at least 30 other football recruits, including all but one commit from the Gophers’ current recruiting class.

According to 247 Sports, Dunlap is the highest-rated offensive lineman recruit to ever commit to Minnesota in the age of internet recruiting. He is currently ranked as the No. 6 offensive guard in his recruiting class and No. 199 overall nationally.

Once he signs, Dunlap will graduate in December and enroll at Minnesota in the spring.

247 Sports Scouting Report:

Dunlap is a massive presence that's mobile and athletic for a player of his stature. He does a nice job of engulfing and bulldozing his opponent in the run game, but can continue to strengthen up his frame and play with better body control and balance moving forward. Dunlap is an intelligent kid with a high football IQ, and projects best at guard long-term.
