After enduring the worst season in program history, the Minnesota Golden Gophers team bounced back this season in dramatic fashion. Playing an unselfish brand of basketball, the Gophers raced to a 4th place Big Ten finish. Fans and University officials were rewarded for their patience in Head Coach Richard Pitino by being selected as a 5th seed in the 2017 NCAA Tournament. The Gophers will take on 12th seed Middle Tennessee State on Thursday, March 15th. Below is a sampling of reactions around Twitter as news broke of the Gophers selection and seeding.
Think the players were a little excited?

History in the making. You know the NCAA would love nothing more than to have the Gophers and Louisville square off at some point in the tourney.
History for the Pitinos! #selectionsunday pic.twitter.com/VavQ6gGGXM

I could actually do this entire post on this topic.
The meltdown in Madison over Minnesota being seeded a 5 to Bucky's 8 is highly satisfying. #Gophers #Badgers #marchmadness

Truth!
Love Tourney Time every year. But it's so much better when #Gophers are part of it. #MarchMadness

I like the way you think @themissjenn
I actually put the #gophers as #NationalChampions in the office pool just to make people mad. I'm a woman of my word. 〽️

What say you Gopher fans?
Gophers opened as a 1 point favorite. Now a pick'em.

Last but certainly not least, ha ha Wisconsin.
Richard Pitino was surprised by Wisconsin's #8 seed on #SelectionSunday. Find out if Trent Tucker feels the same when he joins us at 10:35. pic.twitter.com/cao32DXHLC
