While it was a long-shot that Amir Coffey would upend Miles Bridges as the Big Ten Freshman of they Year, he was given well-deserved accolades by being named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team.
Coffey blew the doors off the hinges to start the season, reaching double figures in scoring in six straight games, including a 30-point effort against St. John’s.
That was just the beginning. Coffey immediately asserted himself as one of the go-to players on the team, but was unselfish at the same time. He’s second on the team in minutes per game and scoring, and pulled down four rebounds per game. He was also second on the team in steals and assists. In short, he does it all.
Coffey was joined by Iowa’s Jordan Bohannon and Tyler Cook, Michigan State’s Miles Bridges and Penn State’s Tony Carr.
