Jordan Murphy is moving up in the world, and more people are starting to take notice. Among the bevy of all-conference accolades the Gophers received today, Murphy was named to the All-Big Ten third team, which further locks in his position as one of the conference’s best players.
Murphy was one of the few highlights on last year’s squad, rolling to a very successful freshman season and a place on the all-conference honorable mention list. Though he had an up and down season this year, he finished very strong and ended up third on the team in scoring, first in rebounds and second in FG%. He was fourth in the conference in rebounds per game.
Murphy had a strong start to the season before falling into a slump to begin conference play. After a conversation with Richard Pitino to better define his role, Murphy went on to record seven-straight games of 14 or more points and double doubles in six of those. It was a remarkable turnaround a big reason why the Gophers were so successful down the stretch.
Congrats to Jordan Murphy and here’s to two more years of dominance!
