Minnesota Hockey: Tyler Sheehy Named First Team All-American

The NCAA Frozen Four was held in Chicago this past weekend with Denver defeating UMD 3-2 to win their eighth national championship in school history. The Friday night between the National Semifinals and the Championship game is national award reveal day. The Mike Richter Award, the Hobey Baker Award and the All-Americans are were all announced last Friday. Minnesota sophomore and Big Ten Payer of the Year Tyler Sheehy was one of the forwards named to the West First Team All-American team, and will have his image added to the All-American mural at Mariucci Arena before next season.

Sheehy is the 36th Gopher to be named a First Team All-American,and the first since Mike Reilly in 2015. Sheehy led the Gophers in scoring and finished the season eighth nationally in with 53 points. His 20 goals were a career high. His 53 points are the most by a Gopher since Ryan Potulny in 2005-06.
