The Minnesota Gophers opened the Big Ten Tournament with a 5-4 comeback win over the Indiana Hoosiers today. The win keeps Minnesota in the hunt for a B1G Tourney Title and an automatic berth in the NCAA Tournament.
The Gophers scored the game’s first run in the bottom of the first inning, as Toby Hanson knocked in team leading 52nd RBI of the season, scoring Terrin Vavra.

Indiana tied it up 1-1 in the top of the 2nd before scoring again in the top of the 4th to take a 2-1 lead. They scored two more runs in the top of the 5th to lead 4-1. The Gophers would quickly cut into the lead with a 2 run homer from Jordan Kozicky.

The Gophers kept at the Hoosiers the following inning, tying the game up at 4 after the 6th. They finally regained the lead in the bottom of the 7th off of an RBI single by Terrin Vavra.

Minnesota’s closer Brian closed out the game with a program record 16th save on the season, pitching 1 and 1⁄3 to preserve the win.

The Gophers will face the winner of #2 Michigan versus #7 Northwestern that is being played right now. That game will take place at 4pm CT tomorrow and will be broadcast on Big Ten Network.
