Lee Corso’s ESPN contract extension is worth celebrating

The day Lee is no longer on GameDay will be a sad day indeed, but it is one we don’t have to contemplate for a while.

Lee Corso will be there to bring his brand of goofy fun and mascot head related hijinks to the college football masses for a few more seasons at least. A multi-year contract extension was just announced for the College GameDay veteran, assuring that the 4 letters layoff carnage will not affect mascot head reveals for the near future.

Honestly, this isn’t a big news story. But I love me some Lee Corso so I was happy when I saw it. If I’m being honest, I have to admit that he’s showing his age on the show. He has a harder time delivering his lines throughout the show than he did a couple of seasons ago and in that regards this probably isn’t the best decision for GameDay as an entire broadcast. But he can still deliver a quality mascot pick and the show would honestly feel empty without him. Also, the college football fan inside of me would really like to watch him put on a Goldy head before he retires (seriously, imagine him trying to spin Goldy’s head while Gophers fans chant at him).

To celebrate today’s news, here is Corso saying EFF IT on national TV.
