Minnesota Gophers left-handed pitcher Lucas Gilbreath was selected by the Colorado Rockies with the 206th selection in the 7th round of the 2017 MLB Draft on Tuesday afternoon. It’s the second time the Rockies have drafted Gilbreath as he was the 36th round selection of the Rockies in 2014. Gilbreath is the highest drafted Gopher since Tom Windle was taken by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 2nd Round in the 2013 Draft.

Gilbreath is the first of several Gophers who will most likely be selected in further rounds of the MLB Draft. Rounds 3-10 will be completed on Tuesday and rounds 11-40 will be completed on Wednesday.
