The Minneapolis Aquatennial announced earlier this week that the Minnesota Gophers head football coach PJ Fleck will be the CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade Grand Marshal. The parade will run down Hennepin Avenue in Downtown Minneapolis on Wednesday July 19 at 8:30.

Fleck put out a statement that said:

“My family and I are honored to be part of the CenterPoint Energy Torchlight Parade. Everyone has been so welcoming to us since we arrived in January, and I am looking forward to meeting more of our fans and embracing the local culture and traditions. I have heard wonderful things about this family-friendly event and how it helps bring a community together to celebrate our elite city of Minneapolis. I am excited to see all the decorative floats and parade units and to be part of the longstanding Aquatennial tradition. Ski-U-Mah and Row the Boat!”

The Minneapolis Aquatennial is the official civic celebration of the City of Minneapolis. Now in its 78th year, the celebration takes place on July 19-22, 2017. It will be bookended with two of the most iconic events in Minneapolis—the Torchlight Parade on Wednesday night and one of the largest fireworks displays in the country over the Stone Arch Bridge on Saturday Night.

Metro Transit will be providing free bus and light rail rides to the parade, so head down and check out Coach Fleck leading one of the biggest parades in the State of Minnesota.
