Another day, another top local Minnesota recruit announcing where he’s going to play. That player? 3 star (nearly 4 star) De La Salle shooting guard Gabe Kalscheur, who has announced he’ll officially commit to a school tonight.

Another similarity to last week’s Jarvis Thomas commitment? It’s widely expect that Gabe will choose Minnesota tonight.
Looking into the crystal ball
The 247 Crystal Ball predictor says that Gabe is a lock to don maroon & gold.

What would his commitment mean?
Gabe committing to Minnesota tonight would be huge for a couple of reasons:
- 3 of the top 4 players in the state of Minnesota would be staying home for the class of 2018.
- Minnesota would suddenly have one of the top recruiting classes in the country
If Gabe commits to the #Gophers as predicted, Minnesota's 2018 recruiting class would move up to 4th nationally, 2nd in the B1G https://t.co/cwqtastYYw

BTW, after a rankings update tonight, a Gabe commitment on Tuesday would bring #Gophers class to 5th nationally, instead of 4th

- More important than the rankings, a commit from Gabe would mean Pitino and his staff will have put together a class full of quality players who are likely to play in The Barn for a number of years. And that’s with a 4th scholarship still to go.
