I know we’re about to kick off the Minnesota football season, but there is breaking news to share and it’s not ideal.
Minnesota head coach Richard Pitino announced that sophomore forward Eric Curry suffered a left knee injury, and will miss the season. pic.twitter.com/iO5AurzhTi

Did I say not ideal? I meant NO GOOD VERY BAD NEWS. Eric Curry was a key part of the Gophers big turnaround as a freshman and was expected to continue to play a big role this season.
The injury is a tear to his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), medial collateral ligament (MCL) and meniscus, suffered during a pickup game

Curry was expected to play both the PF and C so this will put extra importance on the performance of Davante Fitzgerald and Bakary Konate

Curry often spelled Reggie Lynch when he into foul trouble (and he did so ably). That role will now be filled (hopefully) by Davante Fitzgerald but until we see him on the court we won’t know for sure.
We’ll have more to talk about on this front as the season approaches. For now, put it aside and enjoy the football game.
