Minnesota Women’s Basketball Beats Wisconsin

GopherSports.com; Eric Miller

Minnesota women’s basketball defeated Wisconsin 90-65 yesterday at Williams Arena. With the win, the women have now won ten straight against Wisconsin, a streak we hope continues forever. It is the longest streak in program history. With the win, Minnesota is now 15-5 on the season and 4-3 in conference play.

The Gophers broke open the game with a 15-3 run and by half the game was already over at 56-33. The Gophers dominated all facets of the game, and held Wisconsin to 32% shooting overall and just 15% from behind the arc. Every member of the team played during the game, and 10 Gophers scored.

Kenisha Bell led all scorers with 24 points, 20 of which were scored in the first half. Carlie Wagner finished with 15 points.

Destiny Pitts posted her fifth double-double of the seasons. Pitts had 15 points and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Taiyo Bello also finished with a double double of 13 points and 13 rebounds.

Note to our SB Nation overlords: We would love to tag the players in this story, but there still isn’t a menu option for Women’s basketball.

Minnesota next plays Iowa on Sunday at 3pm at Williams Arena.
