You remember college football recruiting, right? I realize it’s been a while since we’ve talked about it here. I’ll understand if you need to brush away some cobwebs. Well head coach P.J. Fleck and co. have not forgotten about it, fortunately, because the Minnesota Golden Gophers received a verbal commitment this evening from in-state 2020 defensive end Aaron Witt.

Witt is the second in-state prospect to commit to the Gophers’ 2020 recruiting class so far, joining Rosemount wide receiver Jonathan Mann, who committed back in April.

Scouting Report
Witt is a future strongside defensive end who will need to add weight to his 6’5’’, 230-lb. frame before he can become an impact player at the college level. Where he excels is in his technique. You see a lot of high school defensive linemen who rely solely on their superior size and strength to blow up or blow past offensive linemen, but Witt has solid hands and utilizes a variety of techniques to win battles at the line of scrimmage. He is also athletic for his size and can close the gap between him and the ball carrier with surprising quickness.
