So who is the newest Gopher?
Get to Know Marvin Tre’ Williams
Position: Wing / Combo Guard
Height: 6’5”
Weight: 190
Home: The Colony, TX
School: Wasatch Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah
So Williams is playing in his second season at Wasatch Academy and will be with Minnesota next season. He is a kid who attacks the rim and according to his high school coach, plays fearless on both ends of the floor.
He chose the Gophers this week over Pepperdine and VCU as his other finalists. The overall offer list is not overwhelming but the Gophers are bringing in an athletic wing who will be needed as Amir Coffey will be moving on soon.
As Williams gets going into his high school season, we will keep an eye on him so we can get to know his game a little more.
Welcome to the Gopher family, Mr. Williams.
What Next?
Well the Gophers still have 3 scholarships remaining for this class. A shooting guard and a power forward should be prioritized.
The current group of seniors accounts for 4 open scholarships while there are just 2 juniors. So banking one scholarship and/or prioritizing a grad transfer to balance things out would not at all be surprising.
