Rashod Bateman has been named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week after recording seven receptions, 175 receiving yards, and two touchdowns against Illinois on Saturday. His performance against the Fighting Illini was one of the few bright spots for the Gophers.

Bateman is second on the team in receptions (42), receiving yards (578), and touchdowns (6), and now holds the school record for most receptions by a freshman. He is the third Minnesota freshman this season to be recognized with a Player of the Week award by the Big Ten, joining running back Mohamed Ibrahim and quarterback Tanner Morgan.
