Scouting Report

Two words: Size and length. Nubin has both of them, and that is part of what makes him an elite prospect at the cornerback position. He has been starting for St. Charles North (Ill.) since his sophomore season, during which he racked up interceptions before opposing teams learned to stop throwing the ball in his direction. Nubin has played on both sides of the ball in high school and will continue to do so as a season, but his focus on defense has led to improved tackling and his ability to shed blocks and set the edge.

Nubin has been lauded by multiple people for his character, which should come as no surprise since Fleck has made that a point of emphasis in his culture.

Potential Impact

The Gophers have a solid core of cornerbacks returning next season, including sophomore Terell Smith, redshirt junior Kiondre Thomas, senior Coney Durr, and redshirt senior Chris Williamson. But with a lack of scholarship safeties and Antoine Winfield, Jr. returning from his second straight injury-shortened season, expect Minnesota defensive coordinator Joe Rossi to get creative in the defensive backfield. This is where Nubin could factor in, as Rossi mixes and matches with different players. Nubin certainly has all the physical tools to compete.
