Scouting Report
Williamson shows good speed as a running back, but his footwork and elusiveness was really what stood out the more we got into his tape. He is a fluid athlete who can change directions. He already is a strong kid who ran through arm tackles... Outside linebacker, safety and running back are all possibilities, but either way, Minnesota got a really good athlete and football player here.
Potential Impact
After a monster senior season that saw him rush for 3,012 yards on 313 carries, with 46 rushing touchdowns, Williamson has been told he’ll start as a running back when he enrolls at Minnesota in the spring. If that is where he ends up through fall camp, I don’t think he’ll see the field much at all, with Rodney Smith and Shannon Brooks both expected back and Mohamed Ibrahim and Bryce Williams bringing back experience. Williamson will be one to watch, as there are a lot of people who see his future on the defensive side of the ball.
