Richter, who committed to the Gophers last season before agreeing to take a greyshirt, will enroll in January. Originally recruited as a defensive lineman, he and the coaching staff have since agreed to a switch to the offensive line. Richter certainly has the size and athleticism to develop into an offensive guard. Naturally big and thick, with a powerful build and a low center of gravity, he keeps a low pad level and has shown the ability to keep leverage at the line of the scrimmage. Richter has all of the physical years, but will need a couple years to develop.
Potential Impact
Barring a disaster, Richter will redshirt as a freshman.
