Minnesota loses to Michigan State

NCAA Basketball: Minnesota at Iowa Jeffrey Becker-USA TODAY Sports

Minnesota lost to Michigan State at home 87-57. The Gophers drop to 3-12 in conference play and continue to pose the question of whether they will win another game this season.

Let’s get the most depressing bit out of the way. Michigan State was so close to setting a new school record for three pointers, but went cold in the late second half. The Gophers had the opportunity to make it into the record books tonight and just missed out. Perhaps a different time this season they can make history.

There were some tiny positives for the game. Minnesota had 10 assists and only eight turnovers. That means that they sort of passed the ball for some points. Isaiah Washington continued to improve. Jelly finished with 18 points on 6-12 shooting and was 3-4 from behind the arc. Jordan Murphy had 16 points and seven rebounds.

Let’s be honest though, you’re just reading this for the puppies. Given the snoozefest that was this game from the fans of maroon and gold, I present sleeping puppies. Behold!

Minnesota next plays Wisconsin on February 19th. The game will probably be miserable to watch.
