Head coach P.J. Fleck confirmed on WCCO this morning that the NCAA has granted medical redshirts for wide receiver Demetrius Douglas and defensive back Antoine Winfield, Jr.
.@Coach_Fleck mentioned this on WCCO this morning, but I can confirm that WR @demetriius_d and DB @liltweeze26 have received medical redshirts for 2017 from the NCAA.

Douglas, who will now enter next season as a redshirt freshman, recorded 11 receptions for 83 receiving yards through three games last year as a true freshman before suffering a foot injury that cost him the final nine games of the season.
Winfield, Jr. will return as a redshirt sophomore this fall after missing the final eight games of the season last year due to a hamstring injury. He tallied 20 tackles, one sack, two pass breakups, and a blocked field goal last season prior to being sidelined.
Earlier this spring, the NCAA also granted a sixth year of eligibility for defensive tackle O.J. Smith, a transfer from Alabama who will now have two years of eligibility left.
