Gopher baseball had a tremendous sweep over a good Indiana team this past weekend. The sweep not only put them into first place tie with Michigan, but it also netted a couple more individual awards for some on the team.
B1G Player of the Week - Terrin Vavra
As noted in my weekend recap, Vavra finished the weekend batting .600, hit 2 HRs, 5 RBIs and 3 runs scored. That was even with the junior only getting 1 at bat in the Sunday game. Vavra has won this award twice this season.

B1G Pitcher & Freshman of the Week - Patrick Fredrickson
The true freshman dominated a very good Indiana squad on Saturday. The freshman worked out an early jam with runners on 2nd and 3rd with just 1 out, but Fredrickson struck out the next batter (after being behind 3-0 in the count) and got the last batter to pop up. No other real threats by the Hoosiers as he went 7 strong innings, giving up just 2 hits, 1 run and striking out 8.
This is the 4th Freshman of the Week honors that Fredrickson has earned this season and his second Pitcher of the Week.

Congrats to these guys after a great week individually and as a team.
