The Gophers went out west and brought in a coveted running back from Las Vegas. Cameron Wiley made it to Minnesota twice this summer and finally pulled the trigger on committing to the Gophers.

Scouting Report
Wiley is a very strong and stout young man. Blair Angulo of 247 gave this analysis of Wiley.
He is a strong, assertive runner with good size and speed. His physicality allows him to be a bruiser when he has to go between the tackles, but he’s also got the finesse and quickness to excel whenever he breaks it outside.
Tom Lemming tweet that Wiley has “terrific vision, balance and hands.”

Of course a high school analysis is going to be very complimentary but Wiley really is a very nice athlete. He is very strong and brings excellent athleticism to the field. While most are recruiting him at running back (including Minnesota), he does have the athleticism and skills to be a linebacker or safety at the next level.
Wiley, by many accounts, is a 4-star caliber running back who is receiving a lower rating due to the fact that he missed his junior season with a knee injury. Do not be surprised to see him have an outstanding senior season where his recruiting star status takes a big step forward.
Wiley is the 20th commitment to this 2019 recruiting class and is almost certainly the final take at running back. Treyson Potts is also coming into the 2019 class as a RB, but Potts may also end up as more of a slot receiver type of a player. Regardless, with an anticipated smaller class, expect running back to be done for 2019. Wide receiver, offensive line and defensive back are probably the last remaining positions where you’ll see additions. There will likely be some surprises yet between now and signing day, but the 2019 class is coming into focus quickly.
Welcome Wiley as a guy who will be a future offensive weapon for what should be some exciting Gopher offenses in the near-term future.
