Heads up Gophers fans. Lindsay Whalen has announced that she will retire following the conclusion of this year’s WNBA season.

This is good news for the Gophers. Coach Whalen seems to have done a really nice job balancing her coaching/recruiting responsibilities with the requirements placed upon her as a WNBA player. In the end though, it was always going to be better for the Gophers to have Lindsay available as a full time head coach.
One interesting fact from the press release that I wasn’t aware of. Lindsay is going to retire as the most successful player in WNBA history, with an all-time wins record of at least 322 victories. Here’s to Lindsay and the Lynx taking home one more title before she turns her attention to leading the Gophers!
