Big players make big plays.
Some guys just have “it.”
A third generic platitude.
What else can be said about Antoine Winfield Jr. and Emmit Carpenter’s performance on Saturday against Fresno State that hasn’t already been said. Well, I suppose there’s this...

Thanks to a game-winning interception that will live for ages and strong tackling, Winfield was named B1G Co-Defensive Player of the Week. AWJr is the first Gopher to receive this honor since Jacob Huff last year against Middle Tennessee. It’s also his second B1G PotW honor this season (he was Co-Special Teams PotW last week). Please use this as an excuse to stop what you’re doing and watch the interception again:
We were trying to come up with a clever caption for this but...we'll just let @liltweeze26 and his interception do all the talking. pic.twitter.com/3xzZE2EC4I

Carp was named B1G Special Teams player of the week after booting field goals of 50 and 53 yards (the latter of which tied his career long). It’s the second time in he has kicked two field goals of 50 or more yards in the same game (the last time was in 2016 against Purdue) and his third B1G PotW award overall. He’s also helped start what will hopefully be a long streak of B1G Special Teams PotW awards after Winfield got the nod last week against New Mexico State. His performance was so strong that Jacob Herbers felt compelled to hold the microphone for him during his entire post game press conference (a bit we hope can continue):
