Week One of the NFL season in is the books. Below we will recap how the former Gophers in the NFL did for their teams, and any roster changes from last week. We have one player who was still looking for a job gain one, and unfortunately we have one player who suffered a season ending injury and will need to wait until 2019 to get back on the field. Here is what happened in Week One in the NFL.
MarQueis Gray—Tight End—Miami Dolphins
Week 1 vs Tennessee Titans
Gray never even got to play in week one against the Titans because one day after being named the Dolphins starting tight end he tore his achilles tendon in practice ending his season. He was put on Injured Reserve and won’t see the field again until the fall of 2019. Ouch.
Maxx Williams— Tight End—Baltimore Ravens
Week 1 vs Buffalo Bills
Williams caught three passes for 32 yards in the Ravens absolute thrashing of the Bills 47-3. He had one long reception of 24 yards from backup QB Lamar Jackson in the fourth quarter of the rout. .
Week 2 at Cincinnati Bengals (Thursday)
Briean Boddy-Calhoun—Cornerback—Cleveland Browns
Week 1 vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Boddy-Calhoun recorded four solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the Browns 21-21 tie with the Steelers. One tackle came on the punt coverage team and the other 3.5 came on defense with one coming in the overtime period.
Week 2 at New Orleans Saints
Tramaine Brock—Defensive Back—Denver Broncos
Week 1 vs Seattle Seahawks
Brock did not record any stats in the Broncos 27-24 win over Seattle.
Week 2 vs Oakland Raiders
Eric Murray—Cornerback—Kansas City Chiefs
Week 1 @ Los Angeles Chargers
Murray started at safety for Kansas City with Eric Berry out and recorded four solo tackles and five assisted tackles in the Chiefs 38-28 win over the Chargers. He played every single defensive snap of the game.
Week 2 @ Pittsburgh Steelers
Damien Wilson—Linebacker—Dallas Cowboys
Week 1 @ Carolina Panthers
Wilson recorded one tackle in the Cowboys 16-8 loss to Carolina.
Week 2 vs New York Giants (Sunday night)
Marcus Sherels—Cornerback/Returner—Minnesota Vikings
Week 1 vs San Francisco 49ers
Sherels returned three punts for a total of seven yards in the Vikings 24-16 win over San Francisco.
Week 2 at Green Bay Packers
De’Vondre Campbell—Linebacker—Atlanta Falcons
Week 1 @ Philadelphia Eagles (Thursday)
Campbell recorded four solo and two assisted tackles in the Falcons 18-12 opening night loss to the Eagles.
Week 2 vs Carolina Panthers
Practice Squad News:
One player who was looking for a job landed one last week when Jalen Myrick was signed to the Vikings practice squad. Myrick played for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season before being cut after camp this fall. He now joins Steven Richardson and Nate Woziniak on NFL practice squads so far this season.
