Week 2 Redshirt Tracker for Gopher Football freshmen

Week 2 of the redshirt tracker and this is where I’d like to reiterate that I am strictly going off of the official participation report from the GopherSports.com box score. I am also not planning to track this for all classes. This will be for freshmen and significant redshirt decisions for upperclassmen, Shannon Brooks is a good example of this.

It is interesting that a number of the freshmen who participated in the big win over New Mexico State did not participate in the Fresno State game. Many of these guys have 3 games left to play while maintaining their redshirt status. Will they play against Miami (Ohio)? Or will they have 3 games kept for the Big Ten season and/or a bowl game.

• QB - Zack Annexstad (2) - So far so good for the true freshman quarterback.
• WR - Rashod Bateman (2) - Emerging as a primary target for Annexstad, these two are going to have a LOT of pass and catch combinations over the next 4 years.
• RB - Bryce Williams (2) - Suddenly Williams is thrust into the starting tailback role.
• TE - Max Janes (2) - walk on - had the great tackle on a kick return when he pushed one Fresno State guy into the returner for a tackle.
• OG - Curtis Dunlap Jr. (1)
• OT - Daniel Faalele (1)
• TE - Brevyn Spann-Ford (1)

• CB - Terell Smith (2) - Interception in the first half of Fresno and quickly becoming one of the team’s best defensive players.
