The Gophers and Fresno State played to a 7-0 score at halftime.
The story of the first half for Minnesota came on the third play of the game. Senior running back Rodney Smith caught a screen pass, took it 11 yards for a first down and injured his knee. The team’s best offensive player, out for the game and the rest of the season looks to be in question.
The Gopher defense was very good in the first half, holding Fresno State to just 104 yards of offense and 0 points.
The offense got into a rhythm on the second drive of the game, going 80 yards in 14 plays and getting the early 7-0 lead. Then it was a Terell Smith interception giving the ball right back and getting Fresno off the field. Then Zack Annexstad led a late 2nd quarter drive starting on the Minnesota 10 which resulted in an Emmit Carpenter 53-yard FG.
And that is how we sit at halftime. Gophers 10, Fresno State 0.
