In what should come as no surprise, the Big Ten honored Minnesota Golden Gophers goalie Mat Robson with the #1 Star of the Week award for his performance last weekend. Additionally Robson was named the NCAA’s #3 Star of the Week. Robson led the Gophers to their first sweep of the season at Notre Dame stopping 76 of 78 Irish shots. Add that to his performance in the win over Penn State the week before and in his last three games Robson has 107 saves and has allowed just one goal per game. Robson leads the Big Ten with 501 saves on the year while his .931 save percentage ranks second in the Big Ten and sixth in the nation.

Here are some highlights from his weekend in South Bend:

Additionally, Gopher freshman Blake McLaughlin was named the Big Ten’s #2 Star of the Week. McLaughlin scored his first two goals as a Gopher this weekend in what ended up being the game winning goal in each game. He also added an assist in Friday night’s win.

The Gophers will return to practice today and get ready for a big weekend series at Michigan State on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. The Saturday puck drop is 4:30 and the Sunday game begins at 4:00. Both games will air live on BTN.
