The Minnesota Golden Gophers appeared in the Coaches Poll last week for the first time since 2014 and held on to their spot with a 34-7 victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. The win improved their unblemished record to 6-0 and, in addition to gaining ground in the Coaches Poll at No. 20, the Gophers have entered the AP Top 25 at No. 20 as well.
This is Minnesota’s first appearance in the AP Top 25 since 2014.
Ohio State (6-0), Wisconsin (6-0), Penn State (6-0), Michigan (5-1), and Iowa (4-2) are the only other Big Ten teams ranked in either poll. Iowa somehow managed to cling to both the Coaches Poll and the AP Top 25 despite back-to-back losses to Michigan and Penn State. The Hawkeyes managed just one touchdown across both games.
Twelve FBS teams remain unbeaten after Week 7. The Gophers will put their perfect record on the line on the road against Rutgers on Saturday. Minnesota has not started a season 7-0 since 1960.
