Minnesota Golden Gophers linebacker Kamal Martin has been named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week. The senior tallied 15 total tackles against Nebraska on Saturday as the Gophers routed the Cornhuskers by a score of 34-7 to improve to 6-0 on the season.

Martin is the fifth Gopher to be recognized as a Big Ten Player of the Week this season. Tanner Morgan and Jacob Herbers were named Co-Offensive Player of the Week and Special Teams Player of the Week, respectively, in Week 5, following Antoine Winfield Jr. in Week 2 (Defensive Player of the Week) and Tyler Johnson in Week 3 (Co-Offensive Player of the Week).
