You remember recruiting, right? I can understand if you have to brush away some cobwebs. It’s been a couple months since head coach P.J. Fleck and co. have had a new verbal commitment. But this morning’s announcement from Georgia wide receiver Dakota Thomas may signal that recruiting is about to heat up again for the Minnesota Golden Gophers ahead of the Early Signing Day period in December.

Scouting Report
Fleck and wide receivers coach Matt Simon saw Thomas compete in person at a satellite camp over the summer and he was impressive enough then to earn a scholarship offer. I don’t think I need to remind anyone of Fleck and Simon’s track record with scouting wide receivers — especially if we’re talking about wide receivers from Georgia. But based on his film, Thomas would be a very dangerous weapon in the Gophers’ passing attack. His bread and butter is making plays after the catch. Thomas is an explosive athlete who can make defenders miss in the open field. He missed his junior season due to a knee injury but has recorded 26 receptions for 425 receiving yards and six touchdowns in seven games of his senior season thus far.
