Scouting Report

Joyner is an athletic weak side defensive end with WARNING: FOOTBALL CLICHE INCOMING a high motor. He has a quick first step and the aforementioned motor frequently puts him in position to make a play, particularly when a quarterback is rolling out of the pocket or a running back bounces a play outside. But where Joyner truly stands apart is in his innate ability to diagnose plays. You’ll very rarely see him bite on a play-action fake. At the college level, he’ll need to add strength, fill out his frame, and refine his technique, but all of the physical and mental tools are there for Joyner to be a difference maker on the edge for Minnesota.
