Minnesota won in straight sets over Fairfield 25-12, 25-14, 25-11 tonight in the first round of the NCAA tournament. The Gophers were very low error as they hit .434 as a team.
Kylie Miller ran the offense well with 32 assists and added a team high 11 digs. Minnesota’s hitters were dominate as Fairfield was a smaller block than MN is used in the Big Ten. Taylor Morgan had a team high hitting percentage at .571 and Adanna Rollins close behind her with a .519 percentage.
Minnesota continues to look strong as a team. They will have a bigger block in front of them tomorrow night against Creighton University (25-5). Minnesota’s middle hitters should be a step faster and prove to be a deciding factor in the match. The Gophers serving is some of the toughest in the nation and could challenge the Creighton receivers.
