Most of the Minnesota Golden Gophers’ 2019 recruiting class signed back in December, but head coach P.J. Fleck and co. had one more move up their sleeves to close out the class, addressing a position where depth is an issue in the immediate future.
Gervarrius Owens

Potential Impact
Owens will enroll at Minnesota this summer as a redshirt sophomore and have three years of eligibility left. He enrolled at Kansas State coming out of high school before leaving the program and ending up at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, where he spent his first season under then head coach and current Gopher tight ends coach Clay Patterson. As a redshirt freshman, Owens was named a JUCO All-American. He’ll have the opportunity to make an immediate impact this fall and in the coming years at a position where Minnesota is light on scholarship players.
