Gophers beat Penn State 77-72 in OT

Amir Coffey struggled then dominated as he led the Gophers to a win in the Big Ten Tournament

NCAA Basketball: Purdue at Minnesota Harrison Barden-USA TODAY Sports

Amir Coffey struggled for much of the night against Penn State in the Gopher’s Big Ten Tournament opener. But in the end he absolutely dominated and led the Gophers to a 77-72 win in overtime.

Coffey missed all 5 of his three point attempts and overall was just 6/17 shooting. But he scored 12 of the team’s 13 points in overtime and Minnesota advanced.

The win really means that this team is a lock to make the NCAA Tournament and will likely be in the 8/9-seed range. A win today over Purdue might even move them up to a 7.

Up next is Purdue at 6:00 tonight on BTN.
