Isaiah Washington transferring from Minnesota Basketball

No more Jelly in Dinkytown.

NCAA Basketball: Minnesota at Michigan State Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Golden Gophers have lost point guard Isaiah Washington to the mystical and magical transfer portal. Washington announced earlier today that he’s decided to continue his career at a different school.

Jelly never fully caught on as a Gopher. The talent that made him New York’s Mr. Basketball, the 13th ranked point guard in the nation, and a Top 100 recruit was always visible but that wasn’t enough for him to find his spot on the floor in Minneapolis.

As a sophomore, Washington played in 28 of the team’s 36 games, starting none and averaging 4.3 points and 16.3 minutes per game. Hopefully Jelly will find what he’s looking for at his next destination as his talent is fun to watch and he seems like a good kid.
