Another day, another verbal commitment for head coach P.J. Fleck and the Minnesota Golden Gophers. Some day soon, they are going to run out of scholarships to give in this recruiting class, but it is not this day. The latest recruit to grab an oar is Missouri athlete Itayvion Brown.

Somewhat of a concern is that Brown is only “200% committed” according to his Tweet, compared to yesterday’s commitment from Abner Dubar, who is “3000% committed.”

Scouting Report
Brown could play wide receiver, defensive end, or linebacker, but he figures to end up somewhere on the defensive side of the ball for the Gophers. His size and frame at 6’3” and 210 pounds are what afford him that unique versatility. His highlights as a wide receiver consist heavily of jump balls down the field, and the length he uses to his advantage in those situations will prove useful in disrupting passing lanes as defensive end, although he’ll need to continue to add weight to his frame if he ends up on the line. His defensive film is limited, but there is no question he has the speed and athleticism to be an effective pass rusher or a sideline-to-sideline linebacker.
